    Exploring XR interactivity with Twine

I've recently been working on some new branching narrative scripts for Embodied Labs, a company that provides first person immersive learning experiences for caregivers. This will be the second time I'm writing fairly complex scripts for their 360˚ VR training modules. Not complex in terms of dialogue, but complex in terms of keeping track of all the various branches and ensuring that you land where you need to be, with all your I's dotted and T's crossed! I find it is one of

Incarna R-AI-D - a new single player VR game

Incarna Studios, the French VR gaming studio I work with, recently released a first solo player game. Based in the same storyworld as Incarna Adventures, R-AI-D was released in February and just one short month later, won the "Best VR Game" award at the French ETR Awards. The pitch: Incarna is a secret organization that has discovered the existence of a multidimensional parallel universe linked to ours. In order to explore this interdimensional network of worlds, Incarna has

Thank you SXSW and our Audience!

What an amazing experience it was to be able to virtually attend SXSW this year, and to run Finding Pandora X performances as well as backstage tours of Mount Olympus for the virtual festival attendees!! The entire Double Eye team is so grateful to SXSW and our audience for honoring our work with the Virtual Cinema Audience award for our live interactive VR production of Finding Pandora X! I personally am also grateful for the sheer fun of visiting the virtual world of SXSW

Finding Pandora X is going to SXSW

Finding Pandora X has been selected to have its national premiere at this year's SXSW Festival in the Virtual Cinema Spotlight category! With the passing of ages, the Gods of Mount Olympus have faded away until only two remain: Zeus and Hera. Now they are in danger of disappearing if they can’t recover the box of hope that Pandora removed. Enter an immersive storyworld and join this Theatre performance where the audience plays the role of the Greek Chorus, interacting with li

    More Incarna Adventures coming soon!

In a world where so many of us have moved to a remote work situation, I am happy to say that despite the six-hour time difference, I have been able to collaborate once again with the amazing team at Incarna Studios. We're currently in the final production phase of a solo player experience that will be released on Steam in just a few short weeks. R-AI-D will have you pitting your wits against two different AI's running amok through Incarna's Training Temple. The entire network

    Happy New Year in VR

Last week I found myself celebrating the New Year with the VR & AR of Southwest Florida Meetup group hosted by the very creative Evgeniya Simmons. She played around with the basic elements provided by Altspace VR to create a custom designed world for our party. The space was filled with balloons, custom signs, a powerpoint presentation, fireworks, games... The list goes on (did I forget to mention the boombox? There was a boombox with party music!) It was a total blast and re

But I have nothing to wear!

The last day of the Venice Film Festival was as unusual as the opening had been! Friday, the day before the awards ceremony, our team was notified that we would be winning an award the following day. We didn't know what award it would be and needless to say, we had to keep it top secret until after it was announced. In fact, the only reason we were told was so that Kiira Benzing, our director, could prepare her acceptance speech on video. That afternoon, the women on our team

    We're going to (virtual) Venice!

For the second year in a row, we're taking a project to the Venice International Film Festival! Finding Pandora X is an immersive theatrical VR experience where the audience plays the role of the Greek Chorus, interacting with live Broadway actors as the play unfolds. This was an amazing project to work on! Kiira Benzing (the award-winning VR director) and I imagined a new take on the myth of Pandora almost a year ago and have been tweaking and refining it ever since with the

Experiments in Digital Storytelling Part 2

Our second day of open rehearsals for Pandora X, Double Eye Studios' current project in development, took place last week. It was an amazing opportunity for us to test a multitude of different interactions with both our social VR audience and our live digital audience. For this session, I scripted out a ten-minute excerpt of the play, a modern take on the ancient myth of Pandora: On Mount Olympus, Zeus is overjoyed with news from the Mortal Realm. After eons of confinement in

    Call for photos!

As we gear up for our next round of experiments with CultureHub NYC and La Mama Experimental Theater, we are looking for ways to have our on-line audience be more involved in our experience. Here are our two requests. Send your photos to press@doubleeye.co by May 6th and your images will be integrated into the virtual story world of Pandora X. Thanks in advance! #VR #virtualtheater #UGC #interactive

Loveseat to premier at the Venice Film Festival

I'm thrilled to announce that Loveseat, an interactive VR/AR installation, will be making its world premiere at the Venice International Film Festival at the end of August. I am helping to produce and design this very exciting project directed by Kiira Benzing that will be a first of its kind: a virtual reality one act comedy performed simultaneously to virtual and real world audiences. As with all our projects, we are very interested in exploring the interactive space and dr
